We believe literary representation begins with listening. Every writer and manuscript is approached individually, with respect for its distinctive voice and a genuine commitment to meaningful literary opportunities.

At Browne Literary Agency, our purpose is to recognise promising writing and support the distinctive voice behind every manuscript. The Inspiration Behind Our Name

Frances Browne: A Voice Beyond Limitation

The name Browne Literary Agency draws inspiration from Frances Browne, the celebrated Irish poet, novelist, and storyteller born in Stranorlar, County Donegal, in 1816.

Known as The Blind Poetess of Ulster, Browne lost her sight during infancy yet developed a remarkable literary career. Through memory, determination, and imagination, she became a recognised poet and author whose work travelled far beyond the circumstances into which she was born.

Her story reflects a belief at the heart of our agency: powerful voices can emerge from unexpected places, and exceptional writing deserves the opportunity to be recognised.

Like streams in the desert, sweet songs of our land
